50th SENP Congress – Milan 2024

Behind us a great history to build a bright future

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the European Society of Paediatric Neurology and the Scientific Committee of the local organisation, we are delighted to welcome you to Milan for the 50th meeting of the SENP+.

The 50th meeting of our society represents a unique milestone that demonstrates that the SENP+ has long and strong roots and that today we are continuing in the footsteps of eminent researchers who have marked the history of European paediatric neurology. It is a great honour, but also a task that we hope to fulfil at this meeting, which will be held for the first time in Milan, on the premises of the university that is celebrating its first centenary these days.

The two themes chosen this year are

  • Inherited diseases of the cerebral white matter
  • Infectious and parainfectious diseases of the CNS and PNS

Hereditary white matter diseases are a subject that has undergone enormous development in recent years, thanks to the discovery of genetics and neuroradiological typing, with an increasingly precise framework. The latest therapeutic proposals and the possibility of collaborative studies within the company will also be presented.

The second theme is of great clinical importance because of the frequency with which these diseases appear, the questions that remain unanswered, the intervention protocols that are still being improved, but also because, in the era we are living in after the Covid pandemic, new types of disorders have appeared that we are learning to know and understand better.

These topics will be addressed by prestigious speakers from various countries and, as always, we are counting on the active contribution of the many young people who are the lifeblood of every SENP+ Congress.

In view of the 50th anniversary of the SENP+, this year’s congress will be an opportunity to reflect not only on the topics listed above, but also on how knowledge, interpretation and therapy of pathologies have evolved over the past 50 years, and what contributions SENP+ members have been able to make to this process.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, a book on the history of our society will be presented, enabling younger people to learn about the foundations on which SENP+ was founded and the people who have helped to make it great.

We look forward to seeing you in Milan, a lively, welcoming and stimulating city that will add to the great scientific depth of the meeting a warm, family welcome, in keeping with the tradition of SENP+ meetings.

Enjoy our congress in Milan!

On behalf of the OC and the local SC, Pierangelo Veggiotti
