Introducing the SENP+
The European Society of Pediatric Neurology (SENP+) is an international society made up of specialists in pediatric neurology, practicing in the south-western part of the European Community: France, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Spain.
The objectives of SENP+
Promoting the study and treatment of nervous system pathologies in children
Every year, the SENP+ organizes meetings reserved for members of the association and a few invited guests – mostly future candidate-members. At these meetings, participants discuss a series of predefined topics in collaboration with experts (members and non-members of the Society). The first closed meeting took place in Paris in 1971, and the last in Bologna (2001). Every 4 years, the SENP+ organizes an open congress. The first was held in Marseille (1977) and the last in Brussels (2006). Since then, this notion of open or closed congresses has been abolished, and each congress welcomes SENP+ members and any physician wishing to attend.
Ensuring the dissemination of knowledge in pediatric neurology
To reinforce this teaching activity, the SENP+ Board under the presidency of Dr. Campistol (2000-2002) initiated an annual teaching day. This day, open to all pediatricians, neuropediatricians and neurologists, takes place on the eve of SENP+ meetings. The first training course was held in Liège in November 2000.
