Dear friends,
On behalf of the Board of the European Society of Paediatric Neurology and the Organising Committee, we are delighted to welcome you to Turin for the 45th meeting of the SENP.
It is with great pleasure that we have organised this congress, which is being held in our city for the first time.
The themes are shaping up to be very interesting: the course will be devoted to paediatric neuro-oncology, the first day will be devoted to cerebral autoimmune diseases and on the second day we will be discussing diseases of the grey nuclei. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the internationally renowned speakers who have agreed to take part and make their valuable scientific contributions.
Turin is a Roman city with a rich history. Founded in 28 BC, it was for centuries the heart of the Kingdom of Savoy and later the scene of Italian national unity as the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861. A city with an industrial tradition, it is home to Italy’s largest car manufacturing company, FIAT.
Known as the magic city, it contains precious treasures, refined religious and civil buildings, numerous collections of ancient and modern art, innovative museums, including the cinema located inside the Mole Antonelliana, one of the symbols of the city.
And let’s not forget the fabulous Egyptian Museum, the most important in the world after the one in Cairo for the value and quantity of the works it houses. Surrounded by a ring of splendid mountains, nestling at the foot of the hills, it is not far from the sea; Turin is also rich in parks and gardens and is crossed by the Po, Italy’s longest river. It is a city with a long history of neuroscience development, including Nobel Prize winners Rita LeviMontalcini and Salvatore Luria.
And let’s not forget the excellent food and wine of the city and its region, Piedmont.
